COVID-19 Update

Updated: May 29, 2020 at 9:25 a.m.

In light of the new recommendations put forward by Knoxville City and County leadership, we have made the following updates for our daily operations and worship services:

The church office will open for essential business during regular office hours beginning on Monday, June 1. All other parts of the building will remain closed. If you can accomplish something by phone or email, please do so. If you need to visit the office, please know that you will be asked to practice the 5 Core Actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which include maintaining six feet of physical distance and wearing a mask.

For worship, we will continue to offer online services only into the month of June. These services can be found on our Facebook page, Vimeo, or on the sermons page of this website. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@cbcfountaincity) and join our private “Central Baptist Church Fountain City” group to see updates or other opportunities.

We encourage all Sunday School, SHARE Group, and LIFE leadership to stay in contact with your people as often as possible through phone and digital platforms or in outdoor and well-ventilated spaces. If any classes are having issues setting up online platform meetings, please contact Josh at jbeeler@cbcfc.org.

The Family Life Center will reopen on Monday, June 15 with a new schedule and in a limited fashion. Aerobics and exercise classes will be scheduled for the evenings, and the weight room will be available on a reservation basis. At the current time, racquetball courts will remain closed, and close contact activities like basketball will not yet resume. When a schedule of activities for June is finalized, it will be available on the Wellness Page of this website. You can also call the FLC office at (865) 688-1206 with questions or for information.

The Fountain City Ministry Center continues to provide service to patrons; however, they have shifted to a drive thru model to respect hygiene. If you or someone you know is in need, please visit their website for the schedule: fcministry.org.

Childcare at the Early Childhood Center (ECC) and the School Age Program (SAP) has returned to caring for all students as space allows. Classes are limited to 10 to maintain a healthy level of separation and distancing, for the protection of children, families, and those helping to serve us during the pandemic.

Please know that while ministry efforts (like life situations) are shifting rapidly, they are not shutting down. We are actively discussing the best ways for us to continue to serve our community as the Body of Christ and to continue to provide leadership in those efforts. This does, however, require continued funding of ministry through tithes and offerings.

We appreciate your faithfulness to stewardship in support of the ministries at Central Baptist to date, and hope that you will continue to help us financially support ministry through this difficult time. The best ways for doing this include mailing your offering to the church office, giving online at cbcfc.org/give, or by completing an automatic draft form that the office can email to you (you can reach them at office@cbcfc.org).

These are challenging times, but not hopeless times, because we serve the risen Christ who makes all things new–even our efforts at ministering to our community in their need. We look forward to being the hands and feet of Christ together as we embrace the days and opportunities before us.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  -Romans 15:13
